In an era of hyperproduction, where quantity often overrides quality and art is increasingly tailored to entertain rather than to challenge or educate, the figure of the “artist” emerges as a dominant cultural brand. The persona takes precedence over the artwork itself, shifting focus from content to identity.
In such conditions, the artist, often out of necessity, employs strategic, attention-grabbing methods and sophisticated marketing tools to reach an audience that increasingly expects spectacle over substance.
Emerging from the original video material of The Dark Man, a powerful media component, video, takes on a new role within a different performative context. In this project, it functions as an equal carrier of meaning, standing alongside other media lines and contributing fully to the structure and expression of the work.
